It has been confirmed that Quentin Tarantino is working on a Django Unchained graphic novel that teams the character up with Zorro.
The filmmaker will collaborate with comics veteran Matt Wagner on the Django/Zorro miniseries, and will be co-published by DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment.
Tarantino is collaborating with Wagner, who will deliver the comics script. The latter has worked on other Zorro comics in the past.
In a statement about the graphic novel, Tarantino said:
“I’m very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt.”
“It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together.
“And the story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think will be an exciting new chapter for both characters.”
DC published a seven-issue miniseries adaptation of Tarantino’s Django Unchained in 2013. Its writer Reginald Hudlin will also be working on the project.
The artist team is yet to be revealed.
Django/Zorro will debut in the latter half on 2014.
