The Queen of the South, Teresa Mendoza is set to return for a 4th season on the USA Network, despite hiring 2 new showrunners. Dailyn Rodriguez and Ben Lobato will take Natalie Chaidez showrunner role and have become executive producers of the show as well. Both Lobato & Rodriguez have been writers on the show for the first couple of seasons and now they’re looking to continue Teresa’s amazing story.
The show is based on the book with the same namesake is written by Arturo Pérez-Reverte and is about a woman who is forced to run from the Mexican cartel and seek refuge in America and soon after, becomes one of the leaders of another cartel. It’s truly a remarkable show about a woman who rises to power in the world of drugs, money, and cartels.
Chaldez, who was the showrunner for the first 3 seasons of the show said that she will miss the Queen of the South cast (Via Variety):
After 2 incredible years working with USA Network at the helm of ‘Queen of the South,’ I’m moving on to develop my own projects full-time with my friends at Fox and Fox 21 Television Studios,” Chaidez said. “I will miss the ‘QOTS’ familia and fans, but I am proud to pass along the baton and champion the growth of co-showrunners Dailyn Rodriguez and Ben Lobato.”
Regardless, we’re excited for what season 4 holds for Teresa Mendoza and crew as they enter the new season with some pretty high stakes.
