Tittle had a tremendous career. He threw for 212 touchdowns and over 28,000 yards in his 17 years in the NFL. Tittle also received an MVP award, was selected to 7 Pro Bowls, and won 3 titles with the New York Giants. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971.
At the time of his retirement, Title held the records for passing yards, passing touchdowns, attempts, completions, and games played.
Tittle, a former quarterback at Louisiana State University, was taken in the 1947 draft by the Detroit Lions. Instead of joining the Lions, he decided to switch to the AFFC, All-American Football Conference, and play for the Baltimore Colts.
LSU, along with the Giants and the San Francisco 49ers, whom Tittle also played for, tweeted their condolences.
