Bollywoood sensation Priyanka Chopra has had a very successful transition to the hollywood scene. She recently made her big screen debut in the Baywatch remake alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron and is also most known for starring in the ABC thriller ‘Quantico’. Now, Priyanka says she wants to take her career into the next level, superhero movies. When on the road promoting her recent appearance in Baywatch, Chopra spoke to OK! Magazine:
“But my dream part is, now that I’m working in America, I definitely want to do a superhero part. When I think of American movies, they’ve had superheroes for eons right? So I definitely want to play a superhero and I want to have an interesting super power. I don’t know… Batgirl would be so cool!”

DC first announced that they will be bringing Batgirl to the scene within the next couple years and shortly after that announced that Joss Whedon would be directing the film. The story will follow the new 52 DC version of Barbara Gordon, who became batgirl with the help of Batman but was infamously paralyzed by the Joker and became his all seeing eye through the city known as Overwatch.
Batgirl’s story is one of a strong-willed female character and with Wonder Woman becoming a massive hit worldwide, it would be smart for DC to capitalize on a character like Batgirl. Their has been a campaign going around pushing for DC to cast a person of ethnic background in order to add diversity to the superhero roster in the DCEU and Chopra would definitely fit the build of a strong-willed female character. She has embodied it for 2 seasons at Quantico and although she hasn’t been contacted for the role, she would be an interesting choice from DC. Lindsey Morgan, also known as Raven from the CW show The 100, is also a name that has been mentioned as a favourite to be casted as Barbara Gordon.
The movie is set to release in 2018.
