North Carolina Tar Heels junior forward Puff Johnson has announced that he will enter the transfer portal. Johnson is the brother of NBA forward and former North Carolina graduate transfer Cameron Johnson. He is the fourth player this offseason to announce his intent to transfer from the Tar Heels program. Johnson will join forwards, Justin McKoy, Tyler Nickel, and Dontrez Styles as players that are leaving the program. In the past two seasons, Johnson has been the primary sixth man for North Carolina when he was healthy for the program.

This past season as a junior for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Puff Johnson averaged 4.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 38.7 percent and a three-point percentage of 28.3 percent. Injuries and inconsistent play-time slowed him down in his Tar Heels career. That being said Johnson showed flashes of the player he can be in the right situation. During the 2022 NCAA Tournament and 2022 National Championship game, Johnson played very well. There should be plenty of programs that are interested in the forward next season. Johnson will have two years of eligibility left to play for a new program if he decides to use them both.
