Puff Daddy wears many hats, figuratively speaking, and now Combs can be identified as “founder,” as he is set to open a charter school in Harlem. Being a Harlem native, it is only natural that Puff would bring a something this great to his part of the city. He announced that the school — Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School will open in the fall. The school will be overseen by Steve Perry, who founded Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut. Additionally, Orlando-based educator Danita Jones will serve as the principal of Capital Prep Harlem.
Via press release Sean Combs states:
“Creating this school is a dream come true for me. I want to impact the lives of young people in my community, and build future leaders. The first step is offering access to a quality education,” the rapper said in a statement. “Every young person should have the tools they need to succeed. All our children should be able to pursue their dreams. That is something I can impact with this school.”
