Prosecutors have reportedly requested a new arrest warrant and a $200,000 increase in bail for Kyle Rittenhouse. These requests were made in response to Kyle Rittenhouse allegedly moving to a new address without notifying the court 48 hours in advance. Adding on, prosecutors stated that Rittenhouse’s behavior is a reflection of his lack of regard for his bail. Rittenhouse is facing the stiffest charge possible and he did not have to put up any of his own money for bail.
“He is already facing the most serious possible criminal charges and life in prison, so in comparison, potential future criminal penalties are insignificant,” the motion put forth by prosecutors states.
In response to the motion put forth by prosecutors, Rittenhouse’s attorney, Mark Richards, claims that he moved due to threats made on his life. Furthermore, Richards claims that he offered to provide prosecutors with his new address if they agreed to keep it private. However, Richards claims they did not agree and he feels he was justified to keep the information away from prosecutors for that reason.
Rittenhouse has pleaded not guilty to first-degree intentional homicide in connection to the deaths of two people at a protest in 2020. The 18-year-old is accused of traveling across with firearms and murdering two protesters at a demonstration following the Jacob Blake Jr. shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
