
Infamous producer Phil Spector has passed away at the age of 81. Spector was best known for his work with Tina Turner, The Beatles and The Crystals. He also helped out with the solo careers of both John Lennon and George Harrison. Biographer Richard Williams credited Spector with turning “the producer from an obscure backroom boy…into a figure whose function paralleled that of a film director.”
“Phillip Spector, 80, was pronounced deceased of natural causes at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at an outside hospital. His official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner in the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office,” the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation stated.
Spector’s career came to an end in 2003 when he shot and killed actress Lana Clarkson. He was serving a sentence of 19 years to life a the time of his death. Clarkson was just 40 years old at the time of her murder.
