President Barack Obama has always been a huge sports fan and annually fills out a bracket when March Madness comes around. Appearing on Sway in the Morning on SiriusXM’s Shade 45, Obama made his picks for both the 2017 NBA Championship and NFL Super Bowl (Transcribed by Rolling Stone):
“I got to say at this point you’d have to put your money on [Tom] Brady again,” Obama said. Deflategate didn’t put any dents in the Patriots armor, the most powerful person in the world believes. Who will they play? “Seattle and Patriots have a rematch” of Super Bowl 49.
Anthony Slater of the Mercury News transcribed the President’s NBA pick:
“I’m going to go with the Warriors just because (Kevin) Durant, that addition, I think they have too much firepower,” Obama said. “Although they got spanked in their first game so it’ll take them awhile to figure it out.”
He did not say who he thought he would make it out of the Eastern Conference to lose to the Warriors in the Finals, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are certainly a safe bet.
These are both safe bets. He’s picking the favorites in each sport which while not fun, is the obvious thing to do. They’re favorites for a reason, after all.
