President Donald Trump has scheduled his first in-person events since testing positive for COVID-19 on October 1, 2020.
Kicking off his weekend, Trump will host in-person event at the White House on Saturday morning. The White House is expected to host up to 2,000 people. It is unclear what the nature of the event is. In light of the recent Capitol Hill COVID-19 outbreak, officials are taking basic precautions. Participants will be instructed to wear masks, have their temperature checked and fill out a brief questionnaire.
“The health and safety of all attendees is our priority and following CDC guidelines is strongly encouraged,” a source close to the White House told CNBC.
Shortly after hosting thousands of people in Washington, D.C., he is expected to speak at a campaign rally in Sanford, Florida on Monday evening. The event will take place at a airport hangar in the area.
“[I] will be in Sanford, Florida on Monday for a very big rally,” he tweeted.
His events in Washington, D.C. and Sanford, Florida come just one month prior to the general election. While Trump is travelling south, former Vice President Joe Biden will be taking part in a town hall hosted by ABC on October 15. The two are expected to reconvene on October 22 for the final presidential debate.
