President Donald Trump is expected to make a few more pandering political plays before exiting office. A source close to the President has indicated that he will pardon nearly 100 people during his final days in office. While there is no official list of those who will be pardoned, the source reports that Trump will look to pardon many “white-collar criminals” and “high-profile rappers.”
At this time, it is unclear what rappers this report refers to, but it could include Lil’ Wayne. Prior to the election, the New Orleans native was photographed with the President after meeting with him. Weeks later, he pled guilty to federal weapons charges. While it may be safe to assume that Lil’ Wayne would benefit from a pardon, he has maintained that his meeting with the President centered around the economy.
“[I] just had a great meeting with Donald Trump. Besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership,” he wrote after the pre-election meeting.
Lil’ Wayne is not the only high-profile seeking a pardon. Kodak Black has publicly sought a pardon for 2019 weapons charges. The Florida native is currently serving out the second year of his three-year sentence.
The full list of pardons is expected to arrive tomorrow before the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.
