It’s appeared that Ghost’s fall from grace has been in the works since season two. However, he never truly lost anything. He didn’t lose Tasha, his kids, Angela or anyone else until the end of last season when he lost Julio. Since then, he’s been going downhill at full speed. With that being said, it appears that he’s now headed downhill at twice the speed he was before. His wife has left him. His oldest daughter is dead. His wife is now staying with a man that would probably like to see him in jail. His best friend needs him less and less because of the emergence of his Dad that’s not really his Dad. Not to mention, the person that’s probably most responsible for his daughter’s death is now leading the community project that’s commemorating his daughter’s death. Even in all of that, Ghost has hope. With Tasha moving out, Tommy finding his own family and so and so forth, now would be the perfect time for Ghost to fully become Jamie St. Patrick.
If there’s anything that the fourth episode of Power’s fifth season has taught us, it is that Ghost becoming clean is the worst thing for him. Throughout season five, Ghost has done nothing illegal aside from killing the drunk driver. He hasn’t dealt with drugs and he hasn’t cleaned anyone’s money yet. On a moral level, he hasn’t been the greatest husband, but he’s also stopped cheating on his wife. Ghost is an emotional wreck, but he’s being set up to get out in any way he can. The city cop that was leading an investigation on Raymond Jones murder is more concerned with Angela. Angela is concerned with the Jimenez cartel. Tommy’s boss wants Ghost and Tommy to get rid of the Jimenez Cartel and that’s becoming an easier job by the minute. The only people truly concerned with taking down Ghost right now are Mak and Saks, who are easily the dumbest attorneys on television right now. If Ghost wanted to get out of the game and get clean, this is his easiest path to do so. All he would have to do is get rid of the Jimenez Cartel, Teresi, and bounce. However, his emotions about his daughter’s death won’t allow him to do so. Tasha would like him gone. Councilman Tate would probably want him gone. Tommy doesn’t need him and it would make Kanan’s job as the bad guy a lot easier. If you’re reading this Ghost, go overseas, open up a club and just start over. You’ll be a lot better for it. If you don’t, Kanan is going to kill you at some point.
