Post Malone will receive the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The prestigious award is designed to celebrate “gifted songwriters who are at an apex in their careers and are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.” Past recipients include Drake, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Lil’ Nas X, Halsey and Ed Sheeran among others.
“Over the last few years, I have had the pleasure of watching Posty become one of the biggest artists in the world and he’s done it by writing phenomenal songs. Way before Post Malone was a superstar, he was a great songwriter, and this is his first step into the Songwriters Hall of Fame,” Songwriters Hall of Fame Chairman Nile Rodgers said.
Popping up on the national scene in the mid-2010s with the success of “White Iverson,” Post Malone is one of the most successful hitmakers of the last ten years. Over the years, he’s racked up eight diamond singles, including “Sunflower” featuring Swae Lee. His collaboration with Swae Lee was certified 17x-platinum and become the most commercially successful hit of the 21st century.
Post Malone will receive his latest honor from the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 15, 2023 at Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York, New York.
