After eight years with the Charlotte Hornets, Zeller signed with the Blazers during the offseason but his time in Portland hasn’t been easy. In the first game of the preseason, he received an elbow from Andre Iguodala that broke his nose. He recovered quick enough to start the season against the Sacramento Kings.
Now, he has been dealing with this knee injury for a couple of weeks and could be back in the middle of march which gives him two scenarios for the remainder of the season. Get back before the season is over and the playoffs if the Blazers get in or he’s done for the season if the team fails to be at least in play-in tournament positions.
Zeller has played in 27 games and is averaging 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game for the Blazers. The team is currently in the tenth seed of the Western Conference.
