Portland Takes Commanding 2-0 Series Lead With A 112-105 Game 2 Win Against Houston
LaMarcus Aldridge showed up big time again posting 43 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Portland Trail Blazers past the Houston Rockets for a commanding 2-0 series lead. Dwight Howard finished with 32 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockets.
The Trail Blazers have shown a concerted effort to take the Rockets out of their comfort zone, holding Houston to a dismal 3-16 from three-point range in Game 2. The three-point reliant Rockets are shooting just 21% from distance in their two meetings.
After missing 20 shots in Game 1, James Harden continued to struggle finding a consistent rhythm for the Rockets, finishing with 18 points on 6-19 shooting. Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum deserve credit for keeping Harden in front of them and making him work for his shots.
LaMarcus Aldridge has become the story of this series. He’s the first player with consecutive 40-point playoff performances since LeBron James in May 2009. He’s also the first player in Trail Blazers franchise history to have a 40-point game in the postseason.
Game 3 of this series will continue in Portland on Friday at 10:30 PM EST.
