Last month a bill was proposed to Georgia mayor that would revoke every right of the LGBT community. Before the bill could even be signed, major film studios like Marvel, Disney and AMC took a stance against the state by threatening to never film in Georgia again. Though that stopped they mayor of Georgia from signing, it didn’t stop North Carolina from passing the anti-LGBT bill. Once the passing of the Anti-LGBT in North Carolina happened, a lot of businesses have decided to stop supporting the city advising its employees to send no work there. Now another company has decided to stop supporting North Carolina, Xhamster, a site where millions visit daily.
In an official statement sent to the Huff Post, Mike Kulich expressed the company’s disgust for the bill.
“We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate,” he said in an official statement sent to The Huffington Post. “Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them.”
The statement also provided stats for specific keywords and can explain why they support the LGBT community.
“Back in March, we had 400,000 hits for the term ‘Transsexual’ from North Carolina alone, people from that state searched ‘Gay’ 319,907 times.”
Kulich added that all users from North Carolina will be greeted with a petition when trying to visit the site. They are in hopes that it will garner enough signatures so the state can repeal the bill.
Stand up move from the good folks at Xhamster.
