UPDATE (01/18/20 at 9:42 a.m.): Bail has been set at $250,000 in Pop Smoke’s ongoing legal battle. The New York artist will be able to travel internationally for concerts, interviews and other work related matters. However, he must clear all international travel plans with the government and pretrial services beforehand.

The Brooklyn native was arrested early this morning for interstate transport of a stolen vehicle.

Pop Smoke recently collaborated with Travis Scott on JackBoys and is alleged to have transported a stolen 2019 Rolls Royce Wraith from California to New York. His arraignment is set for this afternoon in Brooklyn Federal Court.

Pop Smoke is listed as being charged with interstate transportation of a stolen motor vehicle. He’s alleged to have “knowingly and intentionally” transported the vehicle “on or about and between” November 5 and December 3 of last year.

NEW: Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn announce the arrest of hip-hop artist Bashar Jackson, aka "Pop Smoke" on a single charge of transporting a stolen vehicle across state lines.

The vehicle, they say, was a black Rolls Royce Wraith.

A separate report cites law enforcement sources as claiming that Pop Smoke first met the car’s owner at a recording studio in Los Angeles, at which point a “verbal agreement” regarding use of the car in a video was established.

The car was allegedly agreed to be returned the following day, though the report states that didn’t happen, at which point the car was called in as stolen.

He was arrested at JFK airport after returning from Paris fashion week.
