The year has been long and we’ve seen just about everything. From a Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. bout to the Cleveland Browns clinching a playoff spot, nothing has been off the table in 2020 including the release of a new Playboi Carti album. After years of teasing fans, it appears that Playboi Carti is prepared to release Whole Lotta Red.
In a surprise tweet, Playboi Carti confirmed that his latest project will be released on Christmas. The cover of the album features a Scarface like image of the rapper with the word “Red” written above his head. He did not share a tracklist for the album, but he did hint that Travis Scott and Kid Cudi would be featured.
Whole Lotta Red is a follow-up to Playboi Carti’s 2018 project, Die Lit. The 19-track album featured Bryson Tiller, Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Uzi Vert and several other big names. It landed at number three on the Billboard 200 charts with 61,000 units sold in its first week.
Since releasing Die Lit, Playboi Carti has remained elusive and out of the picture. He appeared on tracks like “Earfquake” with Tyler, The Creator and “Pain 1993” with Drake. His lone single, “At Me,” arrived in April and peaked in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
