A multiyear contract extension has been reached with Detroit Pistons general manager Jeff Bower, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical. Bower, 55, would have been entering the final season of his three-year contract working under president Stan Van Gundy, who signed a five-year deal in 2014.
Bower is described as the “top day-to-day basketball executive” under Van Gundy, responsible for the acquisitions of Reggie Jackson and Tobias Harris via trade and the drafting of Stanley Johnson in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Pistons core is developing respectfully under Bower and Van Gundy, having made a return to the playoffs as an eighth seed in 2015-16 with a 44-38 regular season record.
Before joining the Pistons, Bower was the head coach of Marist College in 2013-14 after serving as general manager of the New Orleans from 2001-03 and 2005-10.
