
Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe each had a double-double and the Detroit Pistons scored 4 points in the final 11 seconds, rallying for an exciting 105-104 victory over the San Antonio Spurs Tuesday night.
With just eight seconds left, Brandon Jennings collected a horrible inbounds pass by Tim Duncan that was fumbled by Patty Mills and Jennings drove the length of the court for the game-winning basket with 0.1 seconds remaining.
Drummond had 20 points and 17 rebounds and Monroe added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Pistons. Drummond and Monroe dominated the inside for Detroit, but it was Jennings who punctuated that effort for the Pistons. Jennings struggled through out the night to get a shot to drop, as he shot only 5-18 and scored 13 points to go along with 7 assists on the night. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 10 points to help Detroit. D.J. Augustin came off the bench to score 19 points and Jodie Meeks joined him off the bench to score 13.
Pistons pushed their winning streak to 6 games.
San Antonio point guard Tony Parker played just 13 minutes in his return from a five-game absence due to a strained left hamstring and only scored 3 points on the night. Tim Duncan scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Spurs with his front court partner Tiago Splitter scoring 10 points. Danny Green dropped 13 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and Marco Belinelli scored 12 points. Jeff Ayers scored 16 points, Manu Ginobili scored 11 with 8 assists and Boris Diaw scored 10 points as all 3 players came off the bench for San Antonio.
Spurs missed 6 free throws late in the game, turned the ball over 4 times and continue their streak at the NBA with the most turnovers in the final 5 minutes of the the game. Spurs have also lost 8 out of their last 12 games.
Detroit defeated the Spurs in San Antonio for the first time since December 2nd 2008 when Allen Iverson, Rasheed Wallace, Richard Hamilton and Ben Wallace led the Pistons to victory.
