The Pittsburgh Pirates and Detriot Tigers have agreed to a trade that will send Joakim Soria to Pittsburgh. John Heyman from CBS Sports was the first to report the news.

The Pirates have been known to have interest to adding to their bullpen for quite some time. After adding Joe Blanton last night from Kansas City, it appears the Pirates may have completed their quest after adding Soria. Soria, 31, will presumably slide into a set up role next to the left Tony Watson and behind closer Mark Melancon. The Pirates will send a low level minor leaguer in return for his services.
For Detroit the move makes sense as they will continue their rebuild having already dealt David Price. With Joakim set for free agency following this season, trading him for something made a lot of sense. Bruce Rondon will now likely become the new Tigers closer.
