Phoenix will have a distinct Houston Rockets influence next season after the Suns won the amnesty auction for Luis Scola yesterday. Scola was amnestied by the Rockets as they seek to clear cap space in a last-ditch effort to make room for a possible Dwight Howard trade with Orlando. The Argentinian averaged 15.5 points and 6.4 rebounds last season and will now be reunited with last year’s Rockets PG, Goran Dragic.
Suns president Lon Babby confirmed the addition through a statement.
“We are excited to have won the bid for Luis Scola and to add a player of his caliber to our roster,” Lon Babby, the Suns’ president of basketball operations, said in a release. “We greatly value the production he will bring and the leadership he will provide to our younger players.”
