The Phoenix Suns and Alvin Gentry have parted ways. The Suns front office met with the coach in the morning and informed him that his services were no longer needed, according to multiple sources from the Phoenix area. It was later confirmed by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! sports.
Gentry, 58, took over as interim coach for the Suns in 2009 and became the official head coach the following year. The Suns made the 2010 Western Conference under Gentry before losing to the L.A Lakers in six games.
The Suns right now have the worst record in the Western Conference (13-28) and are looking for a new voice around the locker room. Former NBA player Lindsay Hunter has been mentioned as one of the possible replacements.
