It’s not everyday that you have the great Phil Jackson watching you as a College player. Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell was one of the lucky few that got scouted. Yes Phil never does this. But there’s a first time for everything I guess.
Now Phil Jackson can scout. That’s fine. But what he absolutely, positively cannot do is talk about it. Positive or negative. He cannot mention anything. But he did. Telling Cleveland.com what he thought about Russell.
“He’s a great-looking kid,” Jackson said as he headed out of the arena. “Great prospect.“
And just for those two little sentences. The NBA has fined Jackson for the comments on Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell according to Yahoo! Sports.
The NBA forbids league officials from making public comments on draft-ineligible players, and sources told Yahoo Sports that the league office was beginning to look into the matter Friday morning.
The Knicks will have one of the highest picks in the 2015 NBA draft, and Russell is considered the No. 1 point guard prospect in college basketball.
The Knicks need pretty much anything they can get. A center, a forward and a guard. And that’s only for the starting line-up. They also need a bench! Hope Phil got what he wanted in Ohio because he’s going to have a long offseason on his hands.
