The Knicks continue to stink it up, it’s not any different today as they got blown out by the Charlotte Hornets at home and were completely embarrassed by the Hornets who were led by New York native, Kemba Walker, and his 28 points and 7 rebounds on the game.
The 100 million dollar man for the New York Knicks, Carmelo Anthony, missed another game due to a knee injury. It resulted in another loss which bring the Knicks to a franchise worst 15th straight loss and a league worst 5-35 record.
Now, Phil Jackson is saying that while Carmelo Anthony sits out, he may have to seriously consider surgery. The Zen Master thinks the Knicks star is holding off.
The following from Ian Begley of ESPN New York.
“I think for Melo the last resort is surgery, as it should be for anybody,” Jackson said. “Surgery is basically to repair and to correct. He’s got a situation that could exacerbate, could get difficult, could be better with the surgery, but he wants to really try it again and see where he’s going to be at. The next period of time we’ll assess that and we’ll sit down and talk to him about it. I know the All-Star game (at Madison Square Garden) is important for him down the road in February. I know this trip to London (for the Knicks game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan .15) will be important for him to play. He sees possibilities of helping the team get back and be better.”
Melo is for sure holding off. You can just tell by his decision to play in the game in London next week that he’s only doing it for the big Knicks moments. The only 2 left are that game in London and the All-Star game which is taking place in his native New York city, but beyond that, I see no need for Melo to risk anymore injury and play with this horrid Knicks team.
