Pharrell Williams made it known Sunday evening where he stood on the national anthem kneeling protest.
During his performance at A Concert for Charlottesville: An Evening of Music and Unity, Pharrell spoke his mind about the recent national anthem protests in then NFL.
“I’m in Virginia right now,” Pharrell told the crowd Sunday evening. “Can’t nobody tell me what to do, if I wanna get on my knees right now. If I wanna get on my knees right now for the people in my city, for the people in my state, that’s what that flag is for.”
Pharrell joined hundreds of NFL players, personnel and owners who demonstrated by kneeling or locking arms in a display of unity earlier Sunday afternoon.
Stevie Wonder and Justin Timberlake, two other performers at Sunday’s benefit concert, took a knee as well.
