Amanda Serrano may be known for her talents inside the boxing ring, but she will soon pursue greatness in the octagon. The Puerto Rican boxing champion has reportedly inked a deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL). Serrano will join the league’s Super Fight Division, which currently includes stars like Kayla Harrison, Francis Ngannou and Jake Paul.
“I joined the PFL PPV Super Fight Division because of their revolutionary format that empowers fighters like never before. The PFL’s commitment to promoting high-profile, pay-per-view events with some of the biggest MMA stars in the world showcases an incredible opportunity to elevate my career to new heights and prove my ability beyond just the ring. I may be known for boxing, but I’ve always loved and trained in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu, knowing those skills would only add to my ability when going against any opponent,” Serrano said about her latest athletic endeavor.
“The League’s commitment to gender equality, providing equal opportunities and recognition of female fighters, is also a driving force behind my decision. I can’t wait to step back into the cage and deliver thrilling performances and unforgettable moments for fans around the world.”
Before Serrano can think about pursuing a career in mixed martial arts, she must first get by Heather Hardy. On August 5, she is set to square off with Hardy in Dallas, Texas at American Airlines Arena. With a win, she will likely pursue a rematch with Katie Taylor.
“I was out with friends in (Puerto Rico) watching Spence vs Crawford, and all I heard was, ‘When’s the Katie Taylor rematch?’” Serrano tweeted.
“My team (at Most Valuable Promotions) will be working on that. We both have a fight scheduled, but I promise it will happen! (What) Puerto Rico asks, Puerto Rico gets.”
