
Crenshaw and Slauson, an intersection infamous to many, yet home to more receive may a name change. The tragic murder of Nipsey Hussle leaves many mourning the rapper, hoping to create permanent recognition in his neighborhood.
Launched on Change.Org by Project Islamic Hope, the petition aims to honor Nipsey Hussle’s legacy as not only a rapper but community leader. Currently, over 200,000 individuals offer their support. With a goal of 300,000 signatures, the campaign targets L.A. Councilman Marqueece Harris Dawson to implement the name change. Along with signing the digital petition, the landing page encourages visitors to contact Dawson directly.
The intersection of Crenshaw and Slauson gave Nipsey Hussle a place to call home and unfortunately also the place of death. His Los Angeles roots, cemented on Crenshaw Blvd and Slauson Avenue, located in Hyde Park hosted The Marathon Clothing store.
Currently a suspect in the shooting Eric Holder remains behind bars. Fans, friends and family of Nipsey Hussle continue to celebrate his legacy with social media posts, candlelight vigils and skill.
