The New Orleans Pelicans are the worst team in the NBA right now. Ok, that’s a little dramatic but they are the only team in the NBA to start 0-2 and neither of their games against the Golden State Warriors or Portland Trail Blazers looked great.
Two guards went off for at least 37 points each in those first two games. Stephen Curry dropped 40 on opening night and last night, C.J. McCollum dropped 37 on the Pels. So, with a roster decimated by injury the only logical thing to do is to waive a player, right?

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has waived guard Nate Robinson.
Nate appeared in two games for New Orleans, shot the ball once, played a total of 23 minutes, totaled 4 assists and 1 steal. Originally, Robinson was signed by the Pelicans before the end of the preseason to help during the injury rehab of Jrue Holiday. He appeared in four preseason games, averaging 8.8 points and 2.5 assists.
While the hurt roster might be down to 14 players right now, it appears that the Pels are expected to re-sign a former member of the team, Toney Douglas.

After waiving Nate Robinson today, New Orleans in talks to try to re-sign former Pels guard Toney Douglas, according to ESPN sources

Douglas was waived by the Pelicans in the offseason and he joined the Indiana Pacers before being waived on Monday when rosters were finalized.
Douglas rejoining the Pelicans isn’t going to change anything important. There’s a new coach in New Orleans and a new system so if Toney does come back, he will be coming back to a whole new Pelicans team. New Orleans needs more than a waiver wire point guard, they need a healthy roster and in the worst way.
