Tim Frazier had a great deal of success with the Maine Red Claws in D-League stints last year, being named 2015 D-League Rookie of the Year and winning the 2015 Most Valuable Player award.
Frazier started the season with Portland, but was later waived in February. New Orleans took a shot at him, signing him to a 10-day contract that eventually was followed by a rest-of-season deal, with him later appearing in the season’s final 16 games.
Frazier impressed, averaging 13.1 points and 7.6 assists in 29.3 minutes per game. He also shot 45% from the field, and 42% from behind the arc. Frazier gave New Orleans fans a glimmer of hope, shining bright on a broken down roster due to injury.
Now a fan favorite in New Orleans, Frazier has earned a spot on the Pelicans’ roster and will likely serve as back-up to Jrue Holiday, a task formerly served by Norris Cole.
Surprisingly, Frazier went undrafted in 2014 and joined the D-League later that year.
