The Golden State Warriors success this year has a lot to do with the offensive and defensive adjustments they’ve made in terms of their scheme. They haven’t changed their team much, other then the coaching staff, so Steve Kerr and his staff gets a lot of the credit. Alvin Gentry is one of those assistant coaches that has been key in the success of the Golden State Warriors. Coaching is a very important thing when it comes to the NBA, and the Western Conference, and now the New Orleans Pelicans, who recently let go of Monty Williams, are looking to hire Gentry.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN:
The New Orleans Pelicans have ?been granted permission to interview Golden State Warriors assistant coach Alvin Gentry for their coaching vacancy, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that Gentry has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the position alongside Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, who is widely expected to part company with the Bulls this offseason.
There are a ton of well-rounded and talented coaching up for grabs right now. Monty Williams, Tom Thibodeau and Scott Brooks are all on that short list of soon hires in the NBA. Who knows who’s the first one to get scooped up next. Now Alvin Gentry is a phenomenal offensive coach, I mean look what he’s done with the Warriors. If he were to be able to coach a team that has Anthony Davis on it, you could just imagine how the offense would go.
