Before the Playoffs there were rumors that the Monty Williams job was on the line if he didn’t make the playoffs, and as a token of his appreciation for making the playoffs, Tom Benson, Pelicans owner has sent a letter to the GM and coaching staff.
According to ESPN:
In the letter, obtained by The Associated Press, Benson thanks basketball operations staff and players for “a job well done” and says he’s “very excited about the future.”
Benson also says staff and players have his word and resolve “to bring everything to bear to win.”
The letter, first reported by Nola.com, was sent after the Pelicans’ first-round playoff loss to Golden State.
Well it looks as if Monty Williams has his job security back in. Monty Williams did an EXCELLENT job against the Golden State Warriors in the first round, but it wasn’t enough as they Pelicans got swept. You can tell that this franchise is headed in a good direction with a good young core and their MVP in the making, Anthony Davis.
