The Pelicans have spoken and for some reason they have given general manager Dell Demps another chance. It must be said, he’s the sole reason why the Pelicans are in this awkward position, going backwards when they should be going forwards.
It’s not his fault that Anthony Davis has sat on an injury for ages, but it is his fault that Davis probably played through it because Davis knows that he’s the only chance of the Pelicans winning anything. But like I said, the Pelicans have spoken. Dell Demps will still be the GM.
The Pelicans’ 30-52 record this season led to speculation that Demps could be replaced, but multiple sources familiar with the situation have said they anticipate Demps’ return.
A source Friday said there has been no indication to this point that Demps will not be back.
Demps, who is known for keeping a low profile during the season, also has been quiet since it ended. His last meeting with reporters came March 25. When asked about his job security, Demps said, “I feel great about my job. I come to work every day and I feel great about it.”
6 seasons he has been the Pelicans GM, and other than Anthony Davis, what good has been done?
He has yet another offseason to build, I expect major changes in the team, I understand that injuries are a thing and most of their players get injured, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying to get help in.
