Pelicans remain intrigued with Goodwin, but with Jrue Holiday back and Tyreke Evans nearing return, no immediate role in backcourt.

Goodwin, a 22-year-old guard with an explosive leaping ability, will enter free agency for the second time this season. He was waived by the Suns earlier this month after spending his first three professional seasons with the club.
Goodwin holds career-averages of 6.2 points, 2.1 assists and two rebounds per contest. He was selected by the Suns with the No. 21 pick back in 2013. A young, dynamic player with high potential, Goodwin will immediately register interest on the open market as a free agent.
The Pelicans will likely sign D-League guard Anthony Brown to replace Goodwin, ESPN’s Marc Stein reports:
The Pelicans are closing in on the signing of former Lakers guard Anthony Brown out of the @nbadleague, according to league sources

Brown played his first NBA season for the Lakers last year, averaging 4.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 20.7 minutes in 29 contests. He struggled finding rhythm in his first professional stint, shooting just 31% from the field and 29% from behind-the-arc.
New Orleans’ 2016-’17 season has started off as an injury-riddled campaign, a problem the franchise has been coping with for much of the last few years. Despite having a perennial All-Star in Anthony Davis, they currently hold a 4-10 record, and are ranked 28th in the league.
