The New Orleans Pelicans wasted no time to start the 2015-16 NBA season. They officially will be looking to lock up Anthony Davis for a very long time with some very big money.
Following from Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski and ESPN’s Marc Stein.
New Orleans Pelicans All-Star forward Anthony Davis has reached agreement on a maximum five-year extension that could be worth in excess of $145 million, a league source told Yahoo Sports.
Davis and his agent, Thad Foucher of Wasserman Media Group, met with New Orleans general manager Dell Demps and coach Alvin Gentry for a dinner in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Wednesday night and reached an agreement after midnight ET, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Davis is eligible for the Derrick Rose rule that allows for him to occupy 30 percent of the Pelicans’ salary cap.
Sources say Anthony Davis' deal will have clause after Year 4 that allows Davis to return to free agency in summer of 2020 if he so chooses

Locking up Anthony Davis is huge for the future of the Pelicans. He brings everything that the team wants and needs and he desires to be great. Davis is a cornerstone player and it’s a no brainer for both sides to agree to this deal.
Anthony Davis is also excited to remain in New Orleans.
