Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently took a leave of absence from the team to rehab some issues from his back surgery that he had during the offseason. Kerr’s interim replacement as he rehabs is assistant head coach Luke Walton.
While Kerr rests, there are people who have been close to him that believe that he won’t be missing a ton of time. Recently, another top Warriors assistant, Ron Adams, said that he expects Kerr to return to the sidelines very soon. Now former assistant coach on the Warriors staff and current New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry believes that Kerr will be back for the Warriors season opener, fittingly against the Pelicans.
Following from Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com.
Alvin Gentry said he expects Steve Kerr to return to coach @Warriors by Oct. 27 opening night: "Trust me on that one. He'll be back."

These great, positive words and well wishes from Kerr’s former and current staff members, I imagine, is a good thing for Kerr to hear. Hopefully for the Warriors, Kerr will be back before then but the way that the organization is setup, I’m sure that Kerr has installed some of his ideas into the team so even if he isn’t around, the team will still execute what he wants.
Kerr is a great coach and in his first season in that position he lead the Warriors to an NBA championship. Can he repeat these accomplishments one more time or will this back injury hold him back? Only time will tell but hopefully Kerr will be back soon.
