
NBA legend Paul Pierce is reportedly being sued by Stephen Carmona over $180,000 in unpaid gambling debt. The lawsuit alleges that Pierce borrowed $150,000 for a game and then paid back $10,000 before borrowing an additional $40,000. The private poker game was hosted by Stephen Carmona on January 27th and the initial payment was meant to be paid back in seven days according to the lawsuit. Pierce made around $200 million in his 17-year NBA career via salary and endorsement deals.

The lawsuit involving Stephen Carmona and Paul Pierce raises questions about why the poker debt went unpaid for months if this case proves true. While Pierce is a known poker player it seems odd the NBA veteran would fail to pay back a debt he should be able to cover. The NBA veteran has not commented at this time about the lawsuit and for now, the case will be handled in the legal system. Updates will likely come out as the case proceeds through the legal system.

In his NBA career with the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers Paul Peirce averaged 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
