For the Atlanta Hawks, the focus of this offseason will be centered around re-signing All-Star forward Paul Millsap. This season, Millsap averaged a career-high 18.1 points and for much of the season was the catalyst for the Hawks. Amid the trade rumors that surfaced around Millsap’s name before the trade deadline, the Hawks will more than likely make him their number one priority this summer.
Subsequently, the Hawks potential front office moves won’t stop them from starting negotiations with Millsap and owner Tony Ressler will be the man tasked with retaining Millsap.
Following from David Aldridge of NBA.com.
Millsap’s future is first and foremost. (No matter who is picked as GM, Millsap will be dealing directly with Ressler on his contract going forward, I’m told.) Budenholzer and the owners want to do everything possible to re-sign him — “there’s no disagreement on whether we’re going to try and keep him, and whether he’s great for the Atlanta Hawks,” Ressler said.
This summer will be a big one for the Atlanta Hawks, as they try and resign their best player in Paul Millsap. This will be a situation that’ll be watched closely and add to the ambiance of NBA Free Agency.
