The Atlanta Hawks are currently sitting at a record of 29-21 and 5th in the Eastern Conference. Once trading away sharpshooter Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Hawks were involved in a multitude of trade speculations surrounding forward Paul Millsap. Fortunately, the Hawks opted to keep Millsap, and an expected dropoff in their play never surfaced.
A big part of Atlanta’s success has come from Paul Millsap and center Dwight Howard. After returning home this offseason, the expectations were high for Howard to perform this season. So far this season, Howard is averaging 13.8 points and 13 rebounds per game while shooting a career-high 64.1% from the floor.
Unfortunately, Howard’s play has been an afterthought as the media has their eyes on a potential Millsap trade in the future. On the contrary, Millsap has kept his focus on the Hawks and shared some positive comments on Howard’s impact in an interview with Sports Illustrated.
The way Millsap gushes about his frontcourt partner, you can just tell the duo has a potential great last hurrah left in them. The pair of 31-year-old big men fit pretty well together, and maybe this might spark at least one more great Hawks run in the playoffs.
