The Saints pounced on the chance to sign an elite pass rusher in an attempt to improve upon the 32nd ranked defense. Former Ravens and Browns outside linebacker Paul Kruger has agreed to a deal with New Orleans. The news was first reported by NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
Kruger brings some much needed pass rush especially with Hau’oli Kikaha out for the season. The young core of Stephone Anthony, Delvin Breaux, Obum Gwacham and 2016 first-round pick Sheldon Rankins should make this defense much improved. Former Raiders head coach Dennis Allen is also the defensive coordinator in his first full season on the job.
The Browns of course are going through the youth movement as Kruger is part of the overhaul. This likely doesn’t change the balance of power for either team as the 30 year old has started to decline.
