Earlier today, Team USA Men’s basketball team won the gold medal and for Paul George, it has been quite the journey. After breaking his leg 2 years ago in a Team USA exhibition game, he has finally found international glory and life has come full circle. Although George has never experienced an NBA championship, this is the closest he has been to a world championship.
According to David Aldridge, George claims this is his championship:

The discussion of a gold medal vs. an NBA championship has been widely discussed these Olympics. With even DeAndre Jordan and Carmelo Anthony chiming in on the situation, saying that winning Olympic gold could in fact just as big of an accomplishment as an NBA championship. The argument continues to be valid. These players are fighting for their country and for a player like Paul George who suffered a horrendous leg injury and has come back to be at a similar or higher talent level, makes him the superstar he is. George will now shift his focus to the newly revamped Indiana Pacers, with additions Thaddeus Young, Jeff Teague, and Al Jefferson, the Pacers led by George are looking to make a title run of their own.
