Before Paul George was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, there were reports that he was trying to force his way out of Indiana to his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Months later, now with the Thunder, Erik Horne of the Oklahoman asked George whether he regrets his demand to the Pacers going public.
Pretty candid stuff from Paul George about L.A. with Lakers and Clippers coming up. Says he has no regrets about Lakers popping up as trade destination when he was with Pacers: pic.twitter.com/1j2bqmRc8m

I have no regrets at all. All that was said was ‘a destination I would have loved to go to.’ There wasn’t, you know, a ‘Hey, gun pointed to the head, send me here.’ I just stated somewhere that I wanted to go play. You ask 80, 70 percent of the guys in the league if they would love to go back home and play for their city, play for their home. That’s all I stated.
George’s honesty is a refreshing change of pace; he’s not feigning eternal loyalty to the team that acquired him over the summer, nor is he saying that he’ll necessarily leave in free agency. He is saying, however, that he would love to play for the Lakers one day. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
