Paul George may not play in this upcoming 2014-15 season but it seems like PG is looking to make a difference when he comes back from injury. He looks to get a little risky by changing his number from 24 to 13. PG-13 is looking to get fans wondering what’s next.
Back during the official deadline to change a number in first week of March, George applied and was granted the opportunity to switch his jersey from 24 to 13. George will have to buy up all remaining Number 24 items from the team and NBA marketplace, as per league rules for a player who changes jersey numbers on the same team.
This doesn’t come as a shock as ESPN.com’s Bill Simmons first talked about this idea back in 2013 on his Grantland website.
“By the way, I have some advice that will help Paul George become a household name, he should change his number immediately from No. 24 to No. 13. Here’s why … can you think of anyone being helped by a nickname more than Paul George suddenly becoming PG-13? ‘Uh-oh, PG-13 is heating up!’ ‘Warning, this game contains strong language, violence and a possible heat check!’ ‘We might have to make this performance rated R — it’s too hot to handle!’ Let’s make this happen already.”
Looks like this move might be for the better to market PG. Well, PG-13 now.
