Indiana Pacers star Paul George played in and co-hosted a charity softball game with Indianapolis Colts linebacker Robert Mathis on Thursday night. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers were laying waste to each other in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
It’s been over 10 months since George suffered his gruesome leg injury during a US National team scrimmage, but he’s kept his spirits high. George recovered well enough to make a return this season on April 5, but suffered a different injury, a strained right calf, on April 15 in a loss against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Taking even more time now to fully recover, George seems to be feeling and looking much stronger (via AP):
“I’m dunking on both legs, and if we were in the Finals tonight, I’d be ready for LeBron,” George joked before the first pitch at a celebrity softball game. “I guess I should say I’d be ready for the Warriors.”
I’m not sure anyone is “ready” for LeBron or the Warriors right now.
Pacers head coach Frank Vogel on George’s status:
“He looks really good,” Vogel said. “Obviously he was back and healthy enough to play last season, and now he’s taken another step. We’re encouraged with what he’s been able to do.”

Even though George did suffer that calf injury, he was at least able to touch the floor again. He’ll be one of the anticipated parts to the 2015-16 season as he looks to return to All-Star form, then we’ll see if his confidence is back to where it would need to be to challenge LeBron James again.
