Paul George has been longing for the Indiana Pacers teams of the past. Making statements about how this years team is so much different than the ones he has played on before. Teams that played consistent defense, had ongoing competitive fire. Luckily a cog in those old playoff machines was available on the free agent market. “Born Ready”, AKA Lance Stephenson, just signed a 3-year deal with Pacers worth a total of $12 million. According to Nate Taylor of the Indy Star, Paul George is pretty excited about the reunion.
“We had special memories,”
“We’ve definitely got a bond on that court. Hopefully we pick up where we left off. He’s excited. He’s always considered Indiana home, so he’s very excited to play with me and us again.”
“I, for sure, can’t wait for him to get back in that jersey,” George said. “I know Indiana and the fans are going to enjoy him back in that jersey, too.”
Before the great triple double boom of, well, this season, Stephenson was known for being one of the few players in the league to get them consistently. After he was “snubbed” of an All-Star slot the Pacers went down hill fast. This signing could be important for the Pacers come playoff time and even more important for the Pacers future. George has been longing for a team that looked like the ones he used to play on. Maybe, just maybe, Stephenson can bring some of that back.
