To seal a victory for the Chicago Bulls over the Detroit Pistons, Paul Gasol rebounded the ball of off a Taj Gisbon missed jump shot, and threw it down. During the dunk, Gasol was fouled by Andre Drummond, and was rewarded with an and-1. The dunk gave the Bulls a three-point lead, which was then followed by a made free throw by Gasol to extend the lead to four.
The Bulls went on to win the game 88-82, but the dunk ensured the Pistons would have no shot to win the game in regulation. Even if they were to make a three-pointer and immediately foul, they would have to hope for the Bulls to miss a free throw, or a full court heave to go in. Lucky for the Bulls, they didn’t have to deal with a heart attack while watching the ball soar to the rim at the buzzer.
Gasol finished the night with as the leading scorer for the Bulls with 26 points. In the double-double performance from Gasol, he also grabbed 10 rebounds. Tonight, Andre Drummond might be seeing Pau Gasol in his dreams.
