The NBA Conference Finals will begin tomorrow night, starting with the Houston Rockets facing the Golden State Warriors. The top 2 teams in the West are rightly so battling it out for the right to face either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Atlanta Hawks in the 2015 NBA Finals. Smell that? Smells like we’re going to have a great finish to the season boys!
As we know the Golden State Warriors straight up owned the Houston Rockets in the regular season, winning all four games. But we can’t read too much into that, the Rockets are the ninth team in NBA History to come back from 3-1 down. The Rockets are legit, but (you know there was a “but” coming) they don’t have Patrick Beverley.
You may look at Beverley and go “Why is that kid so pivotal?”. Like him or don’t, the boy has a defensive edge that the Rockets need, especially when you’re facing one of the most lethal back courts in NBA History. Jason Terry will not hold Steph Curry down, neither will Pablo Prigioni. Patrick Beverley would have a fighting chance. Now the Rockets have had their fingers crossed, hoping that Beverley recovers, but reports are saying he probably won’t.
Beverley is scheduled to have his cast removed in coming days and says he’s hopeful of being cleared to play, but sources told ES?PN.com that the Rockets are pessimistic about Beverley healing sufficiently quickly to return in this round against the 67-win Golden State Warriors.
The Rockets haven’t publicly ruled Beverley out of the series. He last played March 23 against Indiana.
“Patrick is not going to get his pin out until June 4 or 5,” Rockets coach Kevin McHale said Monday. “I think it’s hard to play with a pin in your (wrist).“
I think that if the Rockets make it to the NBA Finals, (they won’t) Patrick Beverley will be there, the hands are wrist are essential for basketball, especially if you’re the point guard. You need to be fast with no hindrances, you can’t play with a bum wrist.
The Rockets shouldn’t hold their breath waiting, just try to deal with it like you have been doing.
