Former top recruit Patrick Baldwin Jr has declared for the 2022 NBA Draft after one disappointing year with the Milwaukee Panthers. Injuries and other factors hampered his freshman season, but he is still projected to be drafted in the first round. The potential of the former five-star recruit is high and despite the setbacks, he did still showcase some flashes of potential and talent. His ultimate goal was to get to the NBA and passing up on this opportunity is not a realistic one.

In his injury-riddled season with the Milwaukee Panthers, Patrick Baldwin Jr averaged 12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in just 11 games. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 34.4 percent and a three-point percentage of 26.6 percent. Despite that, he did finish first in rebounds per game and second in points per game. It is a shame injuries slowed him down and prevented him from a full season in college basketball. Hopefully, now that he is healthy he can get back on the right track in the NBA.

While his single college basketball season with the Milwaukee Panthers didn’t go the way he had likely hoped it would, Patrick Baldwin Jr simply has too much potential to pass up in the first round. His draft stock has fell considerably since leaving high school, but his name will likely be called before the 30th pick of the 2022 NBA Draft.
