After a disappointing start to the season, the Miami Heat were among one of the hottest teams in the second half of the season. Although they missed the playoffs on the last day of games, the Heat showed fight and their roster really rallied behind each other and head coach Erik Spoelstra.
Now with a head start on the off-season, Miami Heat president Pat Riley will be tasked with retooling his team and getting them back into the playoffs. Whether that be from bringing in a high profile free agent or re-signing Miami’s current free agents has yet to be discussed. Whatever the case may be, Pat Riley has stated that the Heat have some flexibility to work with this summer.
Following from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
“While we’re not in the playoffs, we’re ahead of the game. The table is set, with the pick. We obviously know we have flexibility in free agency. We will see how that works out with our players and other players.
“We are going to focus on our guys, really focus on this group of guys. We have found something about three of these guys, I felt they had something but never really had the platform. We will always observe what’s going on in free agency. We have that flexibility. When you have a draft pick and a lot of players on your team you like, you are in good position to move forward.”
