More changes are coming to the world of streaming. On Wednesday afternoon, Paramount+ and Showtime informed their subscribers that they would be merging into a single app. Moving forward, new subscribers will be able to access Paramount+ with Showtime for the price of $7.99 per month. New subscribers will also be able to access an ad-free version of the service for $12.99 per month.
The streaming service merger will impact existing subscribers as well. Current subscribers can upgrade their service to include Paramount+ for a bundled discount. After the discount period ends on October 2, 2022, existing subscribers will pay $11.99 for an ad-supported bundle and $14.99 for an ad-free bundle.
With this change, there still remains a crowd who is uninterested in accessing Paramount+ content. Deadline reports that Showtime can still be accessed as a stand-alone service through third-party services for a price of $10.99 per month.
“The Paramount+ with Showtime bundle offers consumers unprecedented value by providing one of the broadest content libraries in streaming at one of the lowest prices in the marketplace,” Tom Ryan of Paramount Global told Deadline.
“This singular user experience streamlines sign-up and enhances discovery, and this lower price will allow more households to enjoy this exceptional combined entertainment offering.”
